Prints

Prints are available for all of my original Art work, with the exception of commissioned work. the prices vary from; $40 for 8x10, $70 for11x14, $90 for 16x20. Prices do not include shipping. Custom sizes are available, for a quote on sizes not listed and all shipping costs e-mail: dennis@dennisoconnorart.com.

Commissions

The most important piece to the puzzle when doing commissioned drawing or painting is the reference photo. I will need clear large photos so that fine details can be seen easily. Photos with the light source coming from one side, or a three-quarter view of the subject is preferable. If using a frontal view be sure to have the light source coming from the side, this will prevent the subject from flattening out. Look over your photos and email me your favorites. Send a few photos if you’re unsure what will make a great reference. This is what will make your drawing or painting a piece of fine art and something to be treasured for generations.

I’ll let you know which one I feel will get the best results. Once a photo is chosen I will email you the prices (for any size you request) and how long it will take to complete your drawing or painting. Here are just some of the sizes I offer: 11x14, 14x17, 15x20, 16x20, 18x24, custom sizes are also available.

Drawings

Drawings start at approximately $400 and vary by size, subject matter, and the medium used, which will be graphite or charcoal. I can give you an exact quote only after I see the reference I will be working on. A down payment of 50% is required which will not be due until the drawing process begins. During the process I will send photo updates of the progress.

Oil Paintings

Oil painting prices begin at approximately $1000 dollars but are dependent on size and subject matter. A price quote will be given after viewing the reference material. Once the price is agreed upon a 50% deposit will be required prior to any work.

After choosing the reference I begin the process by doing a highly detailed drawing in charcoal or graphite, this drawing will come with your painting at no extra cost. The painting will begin using the old masters process of painting a Grisaille, which is an under painting in shades of grey. The next step is to apply the color in various layers, followed by the final process of glazing, what I think to be the most important step in the whole process. Photo updates will be sent during the process.
